Category: General WestFEST [Sacred Heart Parish, Grand Rapids, MI]

Thu, 5/17 Sun, 5/20

West Grand Rapids’ biggest family festival is back for the 27th year, bigger and better than ever. Sponsored by Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish, WestFest features the Skerbeck Entertainment carnival with plenty of rides and attractions.  This year WestFest is adding food trucks, ethnic dancers and a beer and wine tent serving elections from New Holland and the Mitten breweries.  Situated on the beautiful grounds of John Ball Park and the campus of Sacred Heart, the festival begins on Thursday, May 17 at 5:00 p.m., and continues through Sunday, May 20 at 6:00 p.m.

The centerpiece of WestFest is Skerbeck Entertainment’s huge midway with over 20 rides and attractions. Rides like the Teacup and Apple Go Round for the little ones and spectacular rides like the SuperNova360 and Zipper thrill the kid in all of us. In addition to a wide variety of arcade games, Skerbeck also offers popular fair food like caramel apples and elephant ears. It’s sure to be fun for the whole family.

Speaking of food, this will be the first year for food trucks at WestFest. Barbecue, wraps and sandwiches, TexMex and ice cream treats will all be featured over the course of the festival. Also, a hot dog and hamburger tent will be adjacent to the beer garden and wine tent. Back by popular demand, West Side breweries New Holland and Mitten will be filling the taps in the beer garden.  In addition to the carnival, food and drinks, activities will include ethnic street dancing. Irish, Scottish and Polish dancers will perform on Saturday morning and afternoon. A Scavenger hunt for the whole family sponsored by Rockfinch Realty begins at 1:30 p.m. Saturday afternoon on the park grounds. Saturday night, Sacred Heart will host a massive trivia tournament with lots of prizes and full bar.

WestFest is sponsored by Rockfinch Realty, Pioneer Construction and Lake Michigan Mechanical.  It annually attracts between 40,000 to 55,000 people over the four-day run. To find out more about WestFest activities, times, tickets, discounts and more, visit westfestgr.org.
