Week 1- THE BASICS: God talk. Divine revelation. Inspiration. Inerrancy. Authorship. Does the Bible teach science? History? English translations.
Week 2- HISTORY OF INTERPRETATION. The Fathers. Formation of the Canon. Use of Allegory. Renaissance and Reformation. Proof-text method. “Lower” criticism of the text. “Higher” criticism: literary and historical analysis. Conservative reaction.
Week 3- RECENT CATHOLIC DEVELOPMENTS. Vatican I. Modernism. Pontifical Biblical Commission. Vatican II. New issues: Evolution. Feminist critique. Dead Sea Scrolls. End time speculations. CFD: Theology ($10.00 donation per session requested)
