Category: General Fortnight for Freedom

Sun, 6/21 Sun, 7/5

As Bishop Walkowiak reminded us, the bishops have asked for another Fortnight for Freedom this summer, beginning on June 21-July 4, a time when our liturgical calendar celebrates a series of great martyrs who remained faithful in the face of persecution by political power: (SS. John Fisher and Thomas More, St. John the Baptist, SS. Peter and Paul, and the First Martyrs of the Church of Rome.
These two weeks are a period of prayer, education, and action to address the many challenges to religious liberty in our country. This year’s theme will focus on the “Freedom to Bear Witness” to the truth of the Gospel.
This year, as we have the last three years, St. Isidore will be hosting Eucharistic Adoration and Benediction each evening at 7:00, followed by a 30-45 minute presentation on a topic pertinent to these issues. This event draws attendees from across the area. We have a wonderful lineup this year, including Attorney John Bursch, Dr. Ralph Martin, Prof. Mark Moes, Dr. Donald Condit, Dr. Jeff Polet, and the newly-ordained Fr. Bill VanderWerff.
Our closing Mass at 5pm on July 4 will be followed by a concert by Catholic singer/songwriter Audrey Assad!
