Category: General Traditional Sacred Music Event at Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish

Sun, 11/22

If you love traditional sacred music, mark Sunday November 22nd on your calendar.

Three special events, all capturing the spirit and beauty of traditional Catholic music will be presented at Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish in Grand Rapids with guest Msgr. Ed Hankiewicz giving the homily.

Beginning at 10:30 we will celebrate a high mass in English featuring a new resident ensemble group, Brass Action.

Then at 12:30 a solemn high Mass will be celebrated in Latin to honor 25 years of the Latin liturgy in the Diocese of Grand Rapids. With music written by Gabriel Faure’ sung by the madrigal singers of GRCC and Gregorian chant by the Schola of the Chair of St. Peter, this Mass will transport you to the breath taking celebrations of the great cathedrals.

After the Latin Mass, at 1:45pm,  there will be a potluck. Please bring a main dish and place settings. Sacred Heart will provide coffee and cake.

Then at 3:00 pm join us for a concert for Brass, featuring the GVSU quartet Brass Action and the tuba ensemble Basement Boys.
