This retreat will invite prayerful attention to the unfolding spiritual journey of being and becoming a man. One way to look at a masculine spirituality would be one that, as Richard Rohr puts it: “encourages men to take the radical gospel journey from their unique beginning point, in their own unique style, with their own unique goals.” We will wonder together: Do we have both a masculine and feminine side? What happens when we embrace one and exclude the other? We will take another look at the invitation of the Spirit within us to go ever deeper into the “cave of the heart” to discover how at times darkness and silence may not be things to be afraid of… but opportunities to truly grow and experience our masculine spirituality. Drawing upon the resources of Scripture, the mystical tradition of our faith and the perennial wisdom of the ages, we shall be attentive to God’s presence in our midst – even as we listen and learn from each other.
