Category: General GR Catholic Central High School Blessing Ceremony [GRCCHS Courtyard, Grand Rapids, MI]

Wed, 5/9

Catholic Central High School announces the completion of their $19M comprehensive campaign - The Greatest Gift - with a blessing ceremony on Wednesday, May 9, at 2 p.m. at Catholic Central High School (319 Sheldon Blvd. SE, Grand Rapids, MI). The ceremony will be held in the school’s courtyard, followed by a campus blessing by Most Reverend David J. Walkowiak, bishop of the Diocese of Grand Rapids.

“It has been a joy to work with so many wonderful people to add yet another chapter in the long, beautiful history of Catholic Central,” said Greg Deja, principal/CEO. “We are deeply grateful for all those who helped make our vision a reality.”

Capital improvements to Catholic Central’s downtown campus through The Greatest Gift campaign include the Student Center, a multipurpose space meant to foster innovation and collaboration among students; the STEAM Center; and choir and band rooms. Previous capital improvements from the campaign were made to the CAT athletic complex, 2770 Knapp St. NE, which included the addition of an athletic stadium. In addition, funds from the campaign were invested in personnel and student growth by increasing scholarships and reinventing the student support services department.

“The origin of the word ‘philanthropy’ is Greek. Translated, it means ’love of humankind.’  You, our beloved community, put love into action and made The Greatest Gift happen,” said Beth Banta, director of advancement for the high school. “We are incredibly grateful to each of you. Thank you.”

Interviews will be available with Greg Deja, principal/CEO, and Beth Banta, director of advancement, in front of the school’s entrance from 1:30 p.m. to 1:55 p.m. on Tuesday. For more information about The Greatest Gift campaign, visit http://givethegreatest.gift/
