Who’s My Neighbor?
This Spring our Speaker Series is exploring the community of St. Alphonsus and the diversity of programs within our own neighborhood that serve “at risk” populations. Won’t you come, meet them and support the work they do?

Food Justice:
Did you know 23% of households with children in Kent County experience food scarcity? Access of West Michigan, St. Alphonsus Food Pantry, Community Food Club, and New City Neighbors’ Urban Farm use a variety of traditional and progressive programs to serve those who struggle to meet their basic need for food. Come and learn about the unique ways these programs encourage healthy and affordable food habits. Presentations and a Panel of Q/A will be held following a soup lunch at
noon, Wednesday, April 15th at 12:30-2:00 and repeated Thursday, April 16 th at 6:30-8:00.

Serving the Youth:
Are you aware that Griff’s House has a unique after-school program? That HQ provides services for the increasing numbers of homeless youth? That Lighthouse for Teen Moms provides safe housing for ‘at risk’ pregnant teens who take the courageous step to raise their children? That DA Blodgett is centralizing its campuses and programs to better serve vulnerable children and families? Please join this panel discussion and bring your questions. The more who come, the more we learn. Presentations and a Panel of Q/A will be held following a soup lunch at noon, Wednesday, April 22nd at 12:30-2:00 and repeated Thursday, April 23rd at 6:30-8:00.
