Godspell

The English word ‘gospel’ is derived from the
Anglo-Saxon godspell (“good story”). The musical
Godspell is a series of parables, derived mostly
from the Gospel of Matthew (three of the
featured parables are recorded only in the Gospel
of Luke). The lyrics in this musical come primarily
from traditional hymns, with the passion treated
briefly near the end of the play. It is an
entertaining, yet, thought provoking and insightful
way of looking at the Gospel stories. We will
watch the movie version and spend time in
discussion, letting “God’s spell” surround us. Fr. Tom Tavella will present this event which will be held at the Catholic Information Center at Cathedral Square.Cost is $15 and dinner is included. For more information call 616-459-7267
