World Meeting of Families

Pope Francis has confirmed a visit to the US, in
conjunction with the World Meeting of Families
next September in Philadelphia. We posted an
article in the most recent issue of FAITH Grand
Rapids providing information.
Everyone in our diocese is invited to participate in this historic occasion and celebration of
faith in the family.
Through the diocesan office, we are coordinating three ways in which people from our
diocese can participate in the World Meeting.
1. For families who are interested in attending the week long Congress (Sept. 22-27), they
need to please register now - directly through the World Meeting website,
worldmeeting2015.org.
Some specifics follow:
The diocesan office is recommending that adults purchase the “modified package” or the
“full package” registration because it includes a week long pass to all public
transportation (trains and city buses). This will be necessary for attending any of the
papal events over the weekend.
Within the registration process, there are also options of staying in hotels or in host
family’s homes. If you make reservations through a hotel, please reserve a room from
Monday, Sept. 21 to Monday, Sept. 28.
The diocese will be coordinating travel by motor coach to Philadelphia. We are still
finalizing the details of the bus transportation with the bus company. The cost is
estimated at $120/person round trip. Once we have the details complete, I will be in
contact with you.
Everyone who is attending the World Meeting of Families from our diocese will be
invited to some preparation meetings over the course of the next year. This will give a
chance to get to know one another, to pray together, and to get some orientation on
attending the World Meeting.
2. For those who cannot attend the entire week, but would like to be in Philly for the papal
events scheduled over the weekend (Sept. 25-27), we are working out details with Holy
