Being Neighbors in Our Common Home: 2017 Multi-Media Youth Arts Contest The Multi-Media Youth Arts Contest is a unique educational experience. Its main goal is to provide schools and parishes an opportunity to engage the entire community in learning about the reality of poverty in the United States, how the Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD) is helping low-income persons address the causes of poverty in their communities, and how our faith calls us to support these efforts through both charitable works and efforts for social justice. Young people in grades 7-12 are invited to start by visiting www.usccb.org/about/catholic-campaign-forhuman-development/multimedia-youth-contest. They will find materials that will lead them through a process of learning about poverty, social action, Catholic social teaching, and the work of CCHD. Contestants learn about these areas and then are invited to create artwork in any form based on this year’s contest theme, “Being Neighbors in our Common Home.” Contestants need to send entries to the diocesan Catholic Human Development Office at Cathedral Square no later than March 1, 2017. The diocesan committee will select winners and forward the entries to the CCHD national office for judging in the national contest. For more information, contact James Birney at jbirney@ccwestmi.org.
