Corpus Christi Procession

Sun, 6/2

Pope Francis will be having a solemn Holy Hour at the Vatican at 5:00 pm Rome time on the Solemnity of Corpus Christi, Sunday, June 2. He has invited the entire Catholic world to join him in adoration at that same hour. Think of it–all around the world, Catholics joining at the same time to be united in prayer and adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. On the west side of Grand Rapids, we shall join the Holy Father in this Eucharistic adoration at SS. Peter & Paul at 11:00 am our time. Adoration will continue until 1:00 pm, when we will begin a Corpus Christi procession from SS. Peter & Paul to St. Adalbert’s, then on to St. James, to St. Michael’s Ukrainian, and finally to St. Mary’s, with a brief stop for prayer and Benediction at each church. On the east side of town, another procession branch will leave St. Isidore at 1:00 pm, also destined for St. Mary’s for a joint closing ceremony and reception afterwards. The procession is designed to accom modate people from all of our parishes, and those who cannot do the entire procession are welcome to join for any part of it, at any of the churches. It will be a great opportunity to honor Our Eucharistic Lord in the Blessed Sacrament, and to give witness to and pray for our neighbors as we pass through our city.
