The Feast of St. Theodosius the Cenobiarch

To live the example of Abraham, St. Theodosius of Cenobiarch left home for Jerusalem where for a short while he was head of a church near Bethlehem.  Desire for solitude led him to the desert of Judah, but word spread of his holiness and soon many came to join him.  He built a monastery at Cathismus, then a hospital next to it in order to care for the sick, elderly and mentally infirm.  He staunchly opposed all heresies of the time.  As he aged, he developed a debilitating skin disease which robbed him of his physical ability to serve; he turned to prayer and spent the rest of his life praying for his community.  At 105, he died and was buried in the cave where he had lived.  The site became a place for pilgrims and miracles.
