The Feast of St. Vincent Pallotti
St. Vincent Pallotti was a priest who was well known all over Rome for his charitable works. His devotion to pastoral care and his desire to bring everyone to Christ, especially the Mohammedans was a driving force throughout his life. He was able to raise large amounts of money which he used to organize schools for tradesmen so they could work better, as well as to establish evening classes for farmers and unskilled workers. He founded the Pallottine Fathers and the Pallottine Missionary Sisters and became known as a “second Philip Neri” for giving away all of his possessions, even his clothes, to the poor. St. Vincent died in 1850 at the age of 55 and his incorrupt body is in the church of San Salvatore in Rome.
